For years, this practice was our go-to veterinarian for our horses, dogs, and cats. We trusted them with emergencies, surgeries, routine care, and senior animals alike, and spent significant amounts on veterinary care over the years without hesitation.
That trust ended with the way our 14-year-old senior dog’s condition was handled.
During an already devastating visit regarding his heart failure diagnosis, our mother was told: “We can put him down if he’s bothering you too much,” followed by comments implying this situation could have been avoided had medication been started years ago. We were never informed that our dog had heart failure, nor were we ever presented with treatment options for such a diagnosis in the past. Being blamed for “refusing treatment” that was never clearly diagnosed or discussed is both inappropriate and deeply concerning.
Regardless of differing medical opinions, speaking to a grieving family this way — especially longtime clients who supported this practice for years — shows a level of arrogance and lack of compassion that no amount of reputation can excuse.
Ironically, we spent years defending this clinic whenever we heard negative stories on the island because our own experiences had always been positive. Unfortunately, after this incident, combined with a serious issue involving one of our horses that was later immediately identified by another veterinarian after being missed here, those stories suddenly became much easier to understand.
This review is not written impulsively. It is written by former loyal clients who expected professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency — and received none of the above.
