Stopped by this place on my way back from the beach, and noticed the animals had VERY poor living conditions. It was heartbreaking to see algae in all the water bowls, not even being able to see the turtles in the water because it was so dirty, and birds in very small cages with no stimulation ( toys, etc). I left a donation in hopes it goes towards better living conditions for the animals. Honestly the title “sanctuary” is not representative of what I saw, these animals would be better off freed.
Located on the main road, it's worth a walk thru if you are stopping by the smoothie cafe next door for a cool drink in the shade. It's a small house with old things, similar to what you might see in an antique store in a small town in the U.S. Out back are turtle tanks and a variety of birds in cages. A peacock or two roam, but the birds are all very afraid of humans (not unwarranted) and with no one on site you are free to wander and look around. Drop a donation in the box and pray these folks are helping injured animals.
